Dental Implant

Treatment in Ipswich

When teeth are lost, whatever the cause, you’ll benefit greatly from their replacement, mainly to help chewing and improve appearance. Nowadays, the best option is Dental implants Ipswich.
A dental implant is an artificial, substitute tooth root made from titanium, which is placed into the space your previous root occupied. A natural, tooth-coloured crown is then placed over the dental implant.

PRGF(Plasma Rich in Growth Factors)

A new technique is now available using plasma rich in growth factors which encourages quicker and better healing. This involves taking a sample of blood prior to the procedure which is then separated out into fractions and the plasma can be used in the implant surgery. Results show that the healing is very much improved and quicker. This technique is also being used in orthopaedics, eyes and ulcer treatments.

Immediate Implants – Teeth In A Day

Following advances in technology and as a result of patient’s increasing demands for an instant solution it is possible to place implants and restore them with crowns or bridges on the same day. On some occasions we even extract teeth, place implants and then fit a crown to the implant in one short session. This option allows patients to convert from failing natural teeth or dentures directly to a fixed crown without many of the conventional intervening stages detailed above. It is not always possible to provide immediate implants, for example if the tooth to be removed has a pre-existing infection.

All-on-4

This is a modern way of providing fixed teeth in a jaw where there are no natural teeth on 4 implants thus reducing the cost. A temporary bridge can be made at the same appointment and the final bridge fitted after healing. (www.allon4-dentist.co.uk)

FAQ

Are implants safe and how long will they last

Implants are safe, well established treatment. It’s probably true to say that implants, much like natural teeth, will last for as long as you care for them. How well you look after your implants – and whether you go for your regular maintenance appointments – will have the biggest impact on how long they will last.
If you don’t look after your implants they will develop a coating similar to what you get on neglected natural teeth. Left untreated, this can lead to gum infection, bleeding, soreness and general discomfort. You could get all these problems with natural teeth. If your implants are well looked after, and if the bone they are fitted to is strong and healthy, you expect them to last for many years.

Do Implants hurt

    Can anyone have implants?

      How long do implants last?

        What are the costs?

What do if I do not have enough bone?

Through clinical examination and with the help of x-rays, models and CT scans we can determine whether you have sufficient bone for implant placement. Should the bone volume be less than favourable we can offer a number of augmentation techniques:
          • Guided bone regeneration – Some bone is saved from the drilling process and combined with additional bovine material which will act as a scaffold to enable new bone to develop.
          • Block grafting – Bone is taken from elsewhere in the mouth and fixed into position to build out the thickness of the area where the implant will be placed.
          • Sinus augmentation – Sinus floor augmentation consists of making a small hole above the upper teeth, before lifting the mucosal lining of the sinus and holding this up using implants. The bone and some osseo-conductive material will be packed around the implants and the wound will be closed.
